Our Services

Not only does Ty Afal provide an exclusive one-to-one design and manufacture service for timber frames, we also offer additional services which are best considered at the design stage. This list shows some of the more frequently requested elements.

Design Consultation

After initial sketch-work to gather and develop ideas, our architects and timber frame designers use AutoCAD and Microstation, two well known and reliable packages. Together with laser-based surveying and setting out, this ensures that our frames can be built and erected with millimetre accuracy.

Planning Permission

You will need drawings before planning permission can be granted. We can provide a full planning service which will be best served by a very precise survey of the site at the design stage.

Building Regulations

We offer a full Building Regulations application service, covering plans and elevations, cross sectional drawings, and full specifications, all in accordance with up-to-date National Building Regulations.

SAP Ratings

This Government led system is the Standard Assessment Procedure for determining the energy efficiency of the home. We can provide a SAP Rating for your home to be submitted with the Building Regulations application if you wish.

Structural Calculations

We can provide certificates for the roof trusses and timber frame from qualified Structural Engineers.

Timber Frame Design, Manufacture, and Erection

You may have your own frame design, or you may want your house and frames designed from scratch. Whichever combination of services you require, we will schedule manufacture to ensure that delivery coincides with completion of your ground-works.

We can also provide a quotation for erection of your frame using either our own staff or other nationally recognised Timber Frame Erectors if your location makes that the better option. In either case, delivery of the frames will include all sundry timber, fixings and plans to enable swift and efficient completion.

Supply of window and doors

We offer a range of joinery options from hand-made oak windows, doors, skirting and joinery throughout, to standard softwood items.

Supply of Solar Water Heating system

One of the best energy-saving investments you can make, solar water heating is best considered at the design stage. We can organise fitting to coincide with the roof building and before your other tradesmen start first fix.

Supply of materials for the shell

You will need to decide the details of all exterior surfaces and features before Planning Permission is granted. We can advise on all bricks, blocks, beadings, timber, slate/tiles and ridges, fascia, barge, soffit, and guttering, and can supply all with your timber frame.

Installation of WarmCel Insulation

Another excellent energy-saving investment, the environmentally friendly WarmCel®. The design of the timber frames is perfectly suited to using this product, and once you have completed electrical and plumbing first fix, we can arrange our WarmCel® contractors to insulate your home.

Supply of Underfloor Heating system

UFH offers a more controlled and more efficient method of heating your home, and given an early decision you can incorporate the pipework into the concrete slab, thereby eliminating secondary screed and its consequent costs and delays. We can provide the complete UFH kit so that your groundwork contractors can lay the pipes before the timber frame is delivered.
