We carried out full design and planning services for the new dwelling in Grafton, Shropshire. The house has a maximum floor area of 100sq/m to meet rural dwelling criteria. The house will be tied to a furniture making workshop that exists on the site. The house is designed to maximise energy efficiency, and will be constructed using timber frame with windtightness boards wrapped around the outside, and Intello membranes providing a complete airtightness barrier around the fabric of the house.
The roof will be clad in powder coated aluminium sheeting, and the walls clad in a vertical timber rainscreen cladding.
The new house will be set with the existing grounds of a listed house and will be situated within a wooded area, replacing a run-down outbuilding. The house is currently in construction, April 2014.
