Castell Uchaf, Meifod

Back

Sympathetically convert a listed barn into a small family home whilst retaining the character of the surroundings.

Castell Uchaf is a listed barn conversion that sits next to a Scheduled Monument, Mathrafal Castle.

The barn was originally a cowshed and the conversion, designed and built by Jamie Richardson, retained all of the original timbers, which were carefully removed and then reinstated. A low lean to addition was made to the rear of the barn to make the ground floor living area larger and bringing in natural light into the open plan arrangement.

A selection of locally sourced materials was used internally to enhance the quality of the barn.
