This winter seemed long, wet and windy here in mid Wales. I think the season was amplified for me (Andy) as I was ‘waiting’ for the weather to improve so that the builders could start the hard landscaping for my garden design project in Aberdyfi. Well mid March eventually came, and the garden was bustling with activity.
The garden of this new-build house in a mature area of Aberdyfi was turned upside-down in a whirlwind of activity that saw fantastic progress each day. Culminating at the end of last week with most of the hard landscape completed, with just the patio lights to be installed.
There were a couple of borders that were not impacted by the hard landscaping work which gave me the opportunity to get a head start on the planting. The front of the house consists of mass planting of a small number of plant varieties with a New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax Purpureum) as centrepiece:
